The Message is the debut studio album of American hip hop group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, released in October 1982 by Sugar Hill Records. It features the influential eponymous track and hip-hop single "The Message". The Message was released in October 1982 by Sugar Hill Records. It was the only album released while the group's original line-up was together. The album charted at number 53 in the United States and at number 77 in the United Kingdom

The Message (Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five song). The Message" is a song by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. It was released as a single by Sugar Hill Records on July 1, 1982 and was later featured on the group's first studio album, The Message

The Essential (Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five album). The Essential is a 2CD slipcased compilation album by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. It was released in 2007 on the Union Square Music label. Although titled to Grandmaster Flash alone (and containing no photos of the Furious Five), it does not contain any tracks from Flash's later Elektra Records albums and mainly features tracks from The Message era and subsequent singles

Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five merged the Afrocentric consciousness expressed by such early rappers as Gil Scott-Heron and the Last Poets with b-boy production to create "The Message," an all-time rap anthem. It was the focal point of this LP, which also included "It's Nasty" and "Scorpio," two other strong cuts that might have been winners on their own. Unfortunately, rather than a starting point, this album proved to be their ultimate peak.
