Like the album itself, the art for 2004’s American Idiot is hardly subtle. A heart-shaped hand grenade, bleeding and designed to mimic Communist propaganda, was an integral part of Green Day’s angsty tribute to the nation’s post-9/11 political turmoil. 003. 051. 49. Taylor Swift, '1989' (2014). Taylor Swift’s fifth studio album 1989 was a departure for the singer, so it only makes sense that the cover broke with tradition as well.
