Performance Rockin' the Fillmore is the 1971 live double-LP/single-CD by English blues-rock group Humble Pie. It reached on the Billboard 200, and hit the UK Top 40. The hour-long set contains one original song and several covers.

The band were formed by Steve Marriott and Peter Frampton in 1969 and also featured former Spooky Tooth bassist Greg Ridley and Jerry Shirley on drums

Humble Pie was an English rock band formed by Steve Marriott in Essex during 1969. They are known as one of the late 1960s' first supergroups and found success on both sides of the Atlantic with such songs as "Black Coffee", "30 Days in the Hole", "I Don't Need No Doctor" and "Natural Born Bugie".

Performance: Rockin' the Fillmore' became Humble Pie's breakthrough hit, cracking the Top 25 and going gold. But the success was short-lived: Frampton left not long afterward, and repeated the formula a few years later by releasing a string of modestly successful solo albums before hitting the mother lode with the 1976 blockbuster 'Frampton Comes Alive. Humble Pie scored a few more hits with replacement guitarist Clem Clempson on the albums 'Smokin'' and 'Eat It,' before finally petering out for good. Sadly, with the exception of 'Thirty Days in the Hole' and the live version of 'I Don't Need No Doctor' included here, Humble Pie's songs are often ignored by classic-rock radio. Fans who remember the original 'Rockin' the Fillmore' as one of the era's best live albums will no doubt appreciate the trip down memory lane.

The album's steady sales helped Performance: Rockin' the Fillmore to become the band's first RIAA gold record. Its popularity helped the band's previous album, Rock On, reach gold album status. On October 29, 2013, Omnivore Recordings released all four sets recorded that weekend as a four CD set "Performance: Rockin' the Fillmore-Complete Recordings". In the Studio with Redbeard is a North American radio program, produced and hosted by Dallas, Texas based rock and roll disc jockey Redbeard. The show is a weekly hour-long "rockumentary" interview with music program which looks at the making of many of the greatest albums recorded in rock and roll history, although sometimes it would spotlight the history of rock and roll bands. It is the last Humble Pie studio album to feature guitarist/vocalist Peter Frampton, who embarked on a successful solo career.

Humble Pie. Rockin' the Fillmore. Recorded while Peter Frampton was still in the band, Performance: Rockin' the Fillmore captures an early performance by Humble Pie where Steve Marriot's lyricism and ideas where balanced by Frampton's searing lead guitar. This is hardly as engaging as As Safe Yesterday Is, which had studiocraft along with songcraft, but as a document of a band at a pivotal point in their existence, this is valuable and at times insightful.

Humble Pie went gold in the US with their live double LP, Performance – Rockin’ The Fillmore, which hit the UK chart on 22 January 1972. Humble Pie were introduced to the UK audience as a supergroup with a big hit single, but further down the line they would become album rock and concert favourites in America. Natural Born Bugie,’ a No. 4 hit in their own country in the summer of 1969, proved to be their only hit there, and by the early 1970s they were undeniably bigger across the Atlantic. I heard this album for the first time listening to Radio Luxembourg on my transistor radio under the bed covers as a 14 year old, writes uDiscover reader Martyn Smith. Listening to ‘I Don’t Need No Doctor’ was literally a life changing moment and the catalyst for my life in music, years later I’m still lovin’ every minute of it! Thanks Humble Pie and thanks Stevie, the epitome of rock & roll.
